114. Dancing In The Street - David Bowie and Mick Jagger - Directed by David Mallet
November 29th 2008 11:22
This cover of the 1960's hit Martha and the Vandellas song was done for charity as part of the Live Aid show of 1985. Initially they were going to perform the duet with the two in different cities but the half second delay on the satellite meant that they had to make a music video instead. Two of the biggest names in music (both around from the 1960's) teaming together - it's part curiosity and part fun - enjoy

It was embarrassing to watch them doing feeble kicks in their long coats. and the singing was a pale imitation of the original.
Sorry, but I couldn't bear to watch it again.

A great song, always enjoyable,thanks.
A lot behind the scenes here as Bowie rehabilitated, with Mick helping out, even after having shared Angie between them, the commaraderie blossemed. Quite extra ordinary really.

Hey James,
Mick Jagger did a song with the Jacksons in the mid 1980's called State of Shock. He also did a duet with Tina Turner I think.
On the subject of Carly Simon - legend has it she wrote the song "Your So Vain" about Jagger.
