Music Videos - The latest and greatest music clips.

Who says we don't get the new videos on this site - just hours old this is the new one from rap sensation Soulja Boy Tell' Em (great name for an artist eh?). Anyway it is all about the rise of the Soulja Boy from his hard times background. Features a cameo from his friend Arab. I hope you like it (so does he)

How do you do a music video when the star performer is dead?? The brilliant Spike Jonze overcame this problem by using kids to portray the fast hard living lifestyle of dead rap star Notorious B.I.G. - the result is surreal but also has a kind of heart to it. The kids are like miniature versions of the stars and entourage they play and put an innocence back into what can be a violent world. It also works beautifully with the song's title and meaning behind the sky being the limit. Enjoy.

Pretty much your atypical rapper video with the candy shop being a place to find scantily clad booty shaking women. The music video was directed by Jessy Terrero and features Olivia as the lead dancer and several models including Chessika Cartwright (as a dominatrix), "Lyric" (as a nurse), and Erica Mena (as the girl in bed). It also features cameo appearances from Lil Scrappy and G-Unit members Lloyd Banks and Young Buck. I don't who finds this stuff fresh anymore but you have to hand it to fiddy - he has come a long way. Enjoy.

69. Testify - Common - Anthony Mandler

November 7th 2008 12:28

Award winning clip for rapper Common - a wonderful example of the "mini movie" style clip that michael jackson so perfected. Common has grown into one of the more reliable stars of the rap world. Enjoy this clip!

With the victory of Barack Obama I thought I'd take a look at a video that shows that music video can do more than just entertain. This video seen by more than 10 million people uses the soaring inspiring words of Obama spoken and sung simultaneously by celebrities who endorse. An interesting point - the film clip's director Jesse Dylan is the son of folk singing legend Bob Dylan. Enjoy this clip that will go down in history with the famous election it accompanied.

Once again the genius of director SPike Jonze is on display for all to see with this clip for old school hip hop outfit - The Pharcyde. The entire clip is in reverse but so beautifully thought out that it seems that it is moving normally just that it looks a bit weird. It has been copied many times since but no one has come close to pulling it off like Jonze. Enjoy!

Mark Romanek has worked with artists as diverse as Johnny Cash, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Weezer and Michael Jackson. Here he again shows his versatility teaming with Rapper JayZ for this fine clip for the song 99 Problems (from the black album). Breaking the stereotype of what a rap video normally looks like going for gritty black and white and beautifully shot. Watch for the cameo from famed rock/rap producer Rick Rubin. I love this clip

Talk about fun music videos - this homage to low budget 1970's cop shows is an absolute riot. Each member of the group plays an actor playing a character (complete with crazy subtitle). It moves at a million miles an hour and is a great example of Spike Jonze's sense of fun and play. Have fun with this clip

Hot off the press and straight to number 1. The current stars of hip hop and R&B come together for this number. Rihanna is probably R&B's new top diva and TI keeps his hold on the number one rapper spot. Enjoy

Weird Al Yankovic - White & Nerdy

October 18th 2006 07:24
Straight Outta Lynwood is the 12th album by "Weird Al" Yankovic. It was released on September 26, 2006 in the US by Volcano Records, on September 30, 2006 in Australia, on October 3 in Canada, and on October 6, 2006 in New Zealand.

Straight Outta Lynwood has become Yankovic's most successful chart album in the U.S, and his first top ten album ever, entering the Billboard 200 at number ten."White & Nerdy" has also become Yankovic's first-ever Top 10 single, currently sitting at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100. (His previous highest-peaking single was 1984's "Eat It", which peaked at #12).

White & Nerdy is a parody of the song "Ridin'" by Chamillionaire and Krayzie Bone. The song is a lamentation by the subject over his inability to "roll with the gangstas" because he is "just too white and nerdy", and includes references to concepts stereotypically associated with nerds, such as collecting Star Trek memorobilia, editing Wikipedia, playing Dungeons & Dragons, being proficient in the use of Internet slang and computer science, being a fan of Monty Python, and being proficient in mathematics.

The music video is below, the video was unique in that Yankovic personally recruited extras to participate in its filming. A request was posted via the blog on his MySpace page, and he received interest from a number of extras who were willing to work for free.

Next is the music video for the original, "Ridin'" by Chamillionaire and Krayzie Bone.

Tupac Shakur - California Love

August 9th 2006 07:47
Tupac Amaru Shakur (June 16, 1971 – September 13, 1996), also known by his stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, was an American hip hop artist, poet and actor. He is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the best-selling rap/hip-hop artist ever, having sold over 73 million albums worldwide, he is consistently ranked by fans, critics and industry insiders as the greatest rapper ever.
As he garnered fame as a rapper and actor, Shakur gained notoriety for his conflicts with the law. On October of 1991 he filed a $10 million lawsuit against the Oakland Police Department, alleging they brutally beat him over a jaywalking incident. The suit was later settled outside court.

In October 1993, in Atlanta, Shakur shot two off-duty police officers (one in the leg, one in the buttocks) that were harassing a black motorist. Charges against Shakur were dismissed when it was discovered that both officers were intoxicated and were in possession of stolen weapons from an evidence locker during the incident.

In December 1993, Shakur was charged with sexually abusing a woman in his hotel room. On the night of November 30, 1994, the day before the verdict in his sexual abuse trial was to be announced, Shakur was shot five times in the lobby of the Quad Recording Studios in Manhattan by two black men in an apparent robbery attempt. He would later accuse Puff Daddy and Notorious B.I.G. - whom he saw after the shooting - of setting him up. The day following the incident, December 1, 1994, Shakur entered the courthouse in a wheelchair and was found guilty of three counts of sexual abuse, but innocent of six others.

Shakur began serving his prison sentence at Clinton Correctional Facility in February 1995. Shortly afterwards, he released his multi-platinum album Me Against the World. Shakur is the only artist ever to have an album at number one on the charts while serving a prison sentence.
After his release from prison, Shakur immediately went back to work recording. He began a new group, The Outlawz, he also aligned himself with Death Row Records.

On September 7, 1996, Shakur attended the Mike Tyson-Bruce Seldon boxing match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. After the boxing match, Shakur spotted 21 year-old Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson, a member of the Southside Crips in the MGM Grand lobby. Shakur rushed him and knocked Anderson down, and Shakur's entourage beat him. The incident was captured on the hotel's video surveillance. Anderson and a group of Crips had beaten up a member of Death Row's entourage in a Foot Locker a few weeks earlier, precipitating Shakur's attack. After the fight with Anderson, Shakur met up with Suge Knight to go to Death Row-owned Club 662 (now known as restaurant/club Seven). Shakur rode with Knight in Knight's 1996 black BMW 750i sedan, as part of a larger convoy of cars including some of Shakur's friends, The Outlawz, and bodyguards.
At 11:14 P.M., while stopped at the intersection of East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane, Shakur was shot in a drive-by shooting. Shakur was hit four times, twice in the chest, and once each in his arm and thigh, while Knight was scratched in the head by a piece of flying glass. He died in hospital 6 days later.

Although no one has ever been formally charged, nor publicly identified by the police as a suspect, police sources have indicated they believe that Anderson (who has since been murdered himself) was the killer.
2Pac has had 5 albums released posthumously, the last one being "Loyal to the Game" in 2004.

"California Love" was released as Shakur's comeback single upon his release from prison in 1995. A popular remix version of the song appeared on his 1996 double album All Eyez on Me. It was nominated for a posthumous Grammy Award as a Best Rap Performance. The song sold 2 million copies and was #1 in the US, #4 in Australia and #6 in the UK.
This version of the music video appears to have been inspired by the film Mad Max 3, and takes place in a desert. The casting includes actor Chris Tucker playing the evil tribal chief's yes-man, and Roger Troutman (from with the band Zapp, the original writers of the song) carrying a talk box. The shooting takes place in the Thunderdome set known from the movie. It ends with a cliffhanger cut by a "To be continued closing" text.
