Music Videos - The latest and greatest music clips.

A fantastic clip by Nima Nourizadeh for new music act Santogold. An obvious homage to the film The Holy Mountain. This soulful singer songwriter act has a huge potential. Hope you enjoy this one (I know I certainly did!)

A bright breezy clip for the latest offerent from the music act known as Gnarls Barkley. Directed by Happy, look for the cameo from Justin Timberlake. A trippy, freaky hippy spin out of a clip. Hope you enjoy it.

Current pop diva sensation Rihanna takes to burning her boyfriends clothes in the MTV award nominated clip by R & B favourite director Anthony Mandler. It is nothing special in terms of the genre but still an ok clip. Here it is

With the victory of Barack Obama I thought I'd take a look at a video that shows that music video can do more than just entertain. This video seen by more than 10 million people uses the soaring inspiring words of Obama spoken and sung simultaneously by celebrities who endorse. An interesting point - the film clip's director Jesse Dylan is the son of folk singing legend Bob Dylan. Enjoy this clip that will go down in history with the famous election it accompanied.

This was one of the biggest songs of 2007 and is catchy to the point of being now annoying. A great piece of pop song writing and capped off with a featuring performance from rapper JayZ. Rihanna made herself into a houseold name with this song and music video and struck a deal with covergirl cosmetics to take the music - fashion - commercialisation thing to a new level. Here it is!

Rapper and Hip Hop dude Kanye West does it again with this great song which sample the legendary Curtis Mayfield. The clip is a homage to stunt man Evel Kinevel and features a cameo from Pamela Anderson. It's directed by the uber cool Chris Milk. Here it is!

An 80's classic by song maestro Stevie Wonder - written for the Woman In Red soundtrack - it won Stevie an Oscar and is full of sugary pop goodness.

This video from pop princess Rihanna is set in a dungeon torture chamber and has some very dark S & M overtones in it (great for the kddies watching it on video hits in the morning). She continues to crank out the hits and gets millions of hits on youtube for every clip she releases. Enjoy!

Crazy - Gnarls Barkley

August 30th 2006 07:28
"Crazy" is the first single from Gnarls Barkley, a musical collaboration between Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo, and is taken from their 2006 debut album St. Elsewhere. The song became a top ten hit throughout Europe, North America and Oceania, reaching number one of the single charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Demark, Canada, New Zealand and other countries.
Musically, "Crazy" was inspired by film scores of spaghetti Westerns.

Going along with the psychedelic theme of the song, Gnarls Barkley's music video for "Crazy" is done in the style of the Rorschach inkblot test. Animated, mirrored inkblots morph into another, while taking on ambigious shapes. Both Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse appear in the shapes, as do the band's gunshot/heart logo and various animals, including centipedes, bats, spiders, and insects.
The video is nominated for three 2006 MTV Video Music Awards: Best Group Video, Best Direction, and Best Editing.

August 2nd 2006 07:24
Gnarls Barkley is a musical collaboration between DJ and producer Danger Mouse (Brian Burton), and rapper/singer Cee-Lo (Thomas Callaway). Their debut album, St. Elsewhere, was released on April 26thth this year. The first single off St. Elsewhere, Crazy, is been very successful reaching the top 2 in the US, UK, Australia, NZ and Canada. It is still #8 in Australia and #2 in the US.
"Smiley Faces" is their second single which so far has only been released in the UK, reaching number #10 there already.

In the music video for Smiley Faces below, a music historian (played by Dennis Hopper) and an A&R executive (played by Dean Stockwell) are interviewed about whether or not Gnarls Barkley (the person) exists and if he's behind the music scene. The video moves on through the 20s to the 90s where Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse can be seen in the background.
