The Fray - How To Save A Life

September 29th 2006 05:51
The Fray is a four-piece alternative rock band from Denver, Colorado. The band is known internationally for its single "Over My Head (Cable Car)", which made the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100, and was also a hit single in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

The Fray was formed in 2002, and currently consists of Isaac Slade on lead vocals and piano, Joe King on guitar and vocals, Dave Welsh on guitar, and Ben Wysocki on drums and percussion. They have no official bassist, but recently have been touring with bassist Jimmy Stofer. The band lists its main influences as Better Than Ezra and Counting Crows.

Their debut album is "How to Save a Life". The album has sold over one million copies yielded two successful singles to date, "Over My Head (Cable Car)" and "How to Save a Life", the title track of the album.
How to Save a Life is the band's highest charting single to date reaching #3 in the US. According to lead singer Issac Slade, the song is about discussing a friend's crack cocaine addiction at a summer camp.

Alexandra Patsavas, the music supervisor for ABC's Grey's Anatomy, saw the band perform in Los Angeles. She was impressed with the performance, particularly with the song "How to Save a Life". Alexandra then incorperated the song into a second season episode of the show. The song became an "unofficial theme" for the other members of the Grey's Anatomy production after the episode aired, leading to the decision that the song would be used in the main promotion for the third season in the show. The Grey's Anatomy version of the music video is below.
